foam emergers

I have been tying some floating nymphs with foam instead of ones with cdc as the wingcase but have yet to try them. Has anyone tried them before and if so do they usually work better than the cdc wing case floating nymphs. Just wondering since i didnt want to waste time and hooks if they werent a good pattern.
