Tie-Tye

I don't know what was posted to cause the demise of the thread yesterday, but I (as well as others, I guess) would like to know the reason (if any) why the two different spellings are used. If you know the reason, please post. If you know of any fly tying books where "tye" is used, again, please post it here. If anyone has anything negative to say about it (or me) you can always PM me and not cause the thread to be yanked. Thanks.
