I tied up five American March Browns last night, to kick off my winter tying session. I managed to nail the first two or three, but kind of tailed off after that (something I need to work on).
The biggest gripe I have with the last two or three is that the mallard flank wings seem too thick (bunched up) and maybe a little too long. Is there any problem with trimming the wings up a little? Obviously, I want to avoid cutting hackle, but I also don't want the flies to tip over/float incorrectly.
