KLG River Conditions, Stephens State Park

Fished the KLG the other day and did fairly well using Caddis flies. Not just any caddis fly, the extended body caddis. These things look terrific.

The water was murky but should be ok today. The river is at a great level. Let's hope we get enough rain so it stays like this.

The insects I saw were a few sulphers, and 3/4 to 1" long black stone fly's.

The fish were actively rising.

I've come to the decision that I really hate nymphing unless there is absolutely 0 activety on top. Dry fly fishing is the excitement of flyfishing.

Since today that I'm sure the river is probably looking in great shape, I would carry an assortment of flies with me. Check out the Hatch chart by clicking the link up top to see what's hatchin in your neck of the woods.

The water temp on Saturday was 56.


With the damn now fixed, Stephen's State Park fishing should be back to normal. If anyone has info on this, please post it. Thanks.
