Delaware Report Sept 11th and 12th

Back from a nice two day break. One bad day one very good day. Weather both days Sunny to Partly cloudy with temps in the upper 60s but chilly in the AM.

Monday

Went to the Mainstem in two different spots. Saw trico spinners in the air and they fell between 10:30 and 11 AM. Unfortuneatly fish only rose very sporadically. Not even enough to pitch too! No luck nymphing. Fished the lower WBD Monday night. Nothing. No hatches, no fish.

Tuesday

Much better day. Went up to Deposit. Started fishing around 9:30 AM. Nymphed a riff with a buddy and between the two of us we hooked 6 or 8 fish. Mostly small but one was a healthy 20 inch class brown. Another was an unhealthly 18 incher. Saw tricos in the air. They fell around 11:30 AM and we had rising fish all afternoon and into early eaving. Most of them were small 8 to 12 inches but we had a blast. Hooked quite a few but landed far less. It's simply hard to hook and land any fish with tiny hooks and light tippet.
Some larger fish mixed in. We also had a hatch of tiny tiny pseudos size 24 to 26. Trico spinner and pseudo emergers worked pretty well but on long 7x tippets. From about 5 PM to 6:30 PM larger fish came up in the pool. Hooked one but snapped him off as I was using 7x tippet with tiny flys.

Great day on the water. Fish healthy in general. Water looked good. Flows arou 500 to 600 CFS. I think we had better fishing in Deposit due to colder flows from that small release and perhaps water temps had lowered due to two cold nights in a row.
