| I saw this idea for a thread while searching for info on another board and thought that it might be fun and interesting to get everyone's take on it here. Please list your top 12 flies for trout in the NY/NJ/PA region. These should be your "go to" flies, as in if you could only carry 12 patterns all year long, these would be the ones that you depend on to take fish in our local waters. Please be specific, if possible. Give colors where appropriate. Maybe we can come up with the "definitive" basic fly selection for our streams. I'm sure that some of you have developed some very effective selections over the years. Here are mine: 1. Golden Stonefly Nymph 2. Adams Parachute 3. BH Hare's Ear 4. Yellow Humpy 5. Black Elk Hair Caddis 6. Sulphur CDC Comparadun 7. Ausable Wulff 8. Green Serendipity Nymph 9. Rusty Spinner 10. Olive Wooly Bugger Nothing too unusual, but they work for me in the Catskills. ![]() |
