Due to the Rain, the water in the KLG as well as the section of the South Branch that runs through Long Valley are both high and muddy. Also high and muddy are the Black River, and the Musky. No reports on the Pequest as of yet.
If you're interested in fishing, I would recommend nymphing with dark pheasant tail nymphs, sizes 14 - 20.
Use a 5x - 6x tippet but no less. Use a few split shots (I recommend Dinsmore ) to get your fly to the bottom where fish may be feeding.
Best wishes with your fishing over the next few days. More rain is expected and just might kill any chance of weekend fishing for at least this coming weekend.
The rain is much needed, so don't complain just yet. Once summer gets here and there is cool water flowing, you'll be happy for the May showers. Right now, we can only hope for more rain to protect us against and summer heat waves. |
