Guys get ready! since the action has started.Water temps started out in the mid 40' and are reaching about 50.Air temps will be in the 60's and70' all week and the rivers are receeding.
Plenty of stones bringing up some fish, also Brachycentrus(caddis)16/18 have started coming off as well and moving some fish..Observed some small olives(Baetis) size 18/20.The baetis will be coming off in earnest this coming week ,especially on cloudy days.Seined and observed "Paraleps"(Blue quills) nymphs ,Epeorus Pleuralis(quill gordins)nymphs, and Ephemerella Subvaria(Hendrickson)nymphs.
All nymphs had darkened wing pads but not black just yet. With the water temps getting into the 50's this coming week you will sart to see the Quill gordons by next weekend, paraleps 7-10 days and hendricksons in the next 7-14,of course this will vary from stream to stream.
Bottom line Get up there if it is surface activity you have been waiting for all winter long!!!!!!!!!!
The Big rainbows are on the move, and the browns were hungry.
