As I'm sworn to secrecy, I won't report a location but I fished a spring creek yesterday around Allentown/Easton area. Here's what I found.
Fishable rises all day. Fish eating midges and Baetis. There was a sporadic baetis hatch most of the day. Fish were on nymphs in the upper water column and emergers and then at times were observed eating the duns. Fished to risers and picked up a number on size 26 GG, size 18 Baetis emerger and toward dusk on a size 18 Baetis spinner.
Fish were not easy and the hatch never really got going to the point where the fish were working in a manner which made the "catching" easy. I "schooled" some, and some "schooled" me! I missed far more than I caught. I was a bit rusty I think. The activity picked up toward dusk.
All in all a great day for April 2nd. |
