Hi guys. Any help w/ these questions would be much appreciated. I'm heading up to the ADKs to fish some ponds (some may remember from an earlier post). Now that I've got my trip kinda planned I'm wondering how I'm going to catch fish!! Most of my experience is fishing rivers and streams. So, I'll put some questions out for the group about stillwater fishing. Any thoughts would be appreciated by me and I'd guess others. Thanks!!

How do you identify places to fish on a static body of water, lake or pond?
How does wind / sun / air temp / time of day affect the bite?
What flys do you use? Action to flys (e.g. twitch / strip - pause - strip / etc.)
Do you really need that sinking line?
Are dries only good when there is a hatch & rising fish? Do you just cast to where they’re rising? (instead of trying to find a feeding lane).
Is there any way to troll?
Should I just go get a can or worms? |
