Delaware River Issues

A user emailed me to express his concerns about this site. Basically what was said was that Andre's post was a nice change from the Delaware River posts. I agree but,... I responded to the user via Email, here is my parcially edited response:

*I plan on doing something different with the site but due to the nature of the software and database setup on this site, it takes a lot of planning to get it done. The new software I have (which is not installed yet) will allow me to be a bit more flexible with some of the things you've mentioned.

In the meantime, I've tried removing the Delaware posts from the main page for a few days and many people complained about it. *It would also be unfair to the people who post most often to have to make them search around for these articles. I would love to see more discussion about other things regarding other topics besides the Delaware system. One thing I noticed is that the site does get many more posts with the Delaware river topics. Not many people post about anything else.

My goal is to provide a nice site for everyone to enjoy and for people to post about whatever they feel is important to them. *Most on this site feel the Delaware is important to them, including me. If people don't want to read about the Delaware but would rather read about something else, why not post about it rather than complain about the Delaware posts. They could easily over power the Delaware posts.

Andre's post was good old fashioned good posting. I enjoyed reading it. Can you imagine if more people posted like that? Sure would give people a choice in what to read. Right now though, the majority of the posts are with regards to the Delaware. We can't blame the people posting about the Delaware though, they are posting and are invovled with the site. Those who sit back and complain about how the Delaware posts have engulfed the site should post something interesting of their own. If it's that interesting, people will take note and respond, keeping that post on the top for a while.

*At times, the D posts are monotonous, but some people are enjoying them and many people have been educated quite a bit about the rivers they fish in (Delaware (Main / East / West), Neversink, Beaverkill...). *Although at times, I'm not satisfied with certain posts, it doesn't mean I have to take away someone else's satisfaction. *These posts have educated me quite a bit about the rivers in the area. *I probably know more now than what I'd like to know.

Like I said in the first paragraph, I will be installing new software which will mix things up a little. It just takes some planning and time. Hopefully this will happen very soon.

I want everyone to be happy but every day I find that it's hard to make everyone happy. All I can do is take suggestions (such as yours) and weigh out the options.
