| Big Bushkill Grand Slam Left my house in Kinnelon with my 8 year old son last night about 6pm to hit our cabin on the Big B right below the Ressica border. Due to the thunder storms no night fishing. The next morning we hiked about a quarter mile from my cabin upstream to the border of the boy scout ress. Big Bear Country. I have been fishing there with by Grand Pa for over 30 years. It is a huge canyon. Huge Browns and Huge Small Mouths. the water in some of these holes is 20 feet deep. I took my son in around 7am for the small mouths. First cast with a worm a 14 inch smallie which he released. Then the thunder strorm hit. We headed back to the cabin. After the storm I but on a Prince on top and awet fly emererger trailer. No action until the sun came out around 11, and then bang a brookie, rainbow, and nice 14 inch brown in about 25 minutes. Then I hooked into a nice 10 inch smallie. That is the Big B Grand Slamm. After that I took my son to my favorite hole with just his fly rod. I guided After about one half an hour he hooked into an nice 11 inch brown on a 16 inch prince. This was his third on a fly on his own. No help. Water temp was 61 in the morning and when we left about 2pm 65. Not bad on this river for late June. Cheers. |
