I was fishing the Farmington in Ct the last few days and was discusted at the understanding of catch and release that some fly fisherman have. In one pool with big fish I saw two guys each keep the fish in the net and out of the water for 2-3 minutes while they took the hook out, took pictures and waited for their buddies to wade up to see the fish they caught. When one guy let it go he started scooping his net in an attempt to net the fish again, it was obviously going down stream up side down. Another guy caught a 20 inch fish and held it against his vest with one hand while taking the hook out with the other, he then held it up squeezing the two gills together so someone else could see what he caught. Has anyone else seen this kind of abuse and misunderstanding of catch and release ? This was the worst I have seen.
