Not Ranked : 0 How does a trout spit the fly? Okay all, bear with me. This is my first attempt to post a poll and if I screw it all up, hopefully DC will come in and fix it. Recently I had a young fly fisherperson approach me and ask "Why do I keep loosing the trout I hook? They don't break the line, they just get off." As most of you are doing right now, many ideas started going through my mind. Then a month ago I went to the Salmon River Steelhead fishing. I lost 4 of the 6 steelhead I hooked. None of them broke my line, they just came off during the fight. So now I have myself asking the question. Why and how do they get off? What to you think is the most common reason a trout gets off? You could say "lack of experience" to a newbie, but many of us have been loosing fish for 40+ years. So, it's not that simple. Thanks all, Cdog |
