| Does this happen to You? It's interesting how we evolve as flyfishers. It grows from sport to passion very quickly. I'v noticed that I have become more enamored with flyfishing as I get older and the enthusiasm gains strength as I learn more and more. Does this happen to you too? Do you see cute pets such as dogs and birds for their dubbing and feathers? When you see fur coats do you think of getting some of that stuff for your nymph patterns? When you are driving along and see a dead animal in the road do you feel compelled to stop to see if you can use some that for your tying and you don't give a crap if anyone sees you? When you see a TV commercial near a lake or stream do you look for riseforms and ignore the actor's message? When you see a flyfisherman in a TV commercial or movie why are they always doing everything wrong? Can you walk on a bridge over a stream without stopping to look over the side to spot fish? When your wife wants to go to a craft store do you volunteer to go too? When your spouse suggests an exotic vacation do you think of the flyfishing potential FIRST? Before you step into a stream do you observe intently for several minutes? Do you share some of your flies with total strangers on the stream? When you go to a fishing show do you leave feeling as if your equipment is from the Colonial times? Do you get pissed off when you see a beautiful new rod in a catalog that is close to $1,000? I'm not talking bamboo here. If you are near water and not fishing and you see someone who is fishing do you feel compelled to go to speak to this person like a bug to a light? Please feel free to add anything you like. This has been therapeutic for me. If some of these observations ring true, you are on your way to being a real flyfishing fanatic. |
