| Rock Snot - Wipe your..... Last night I went to a TU meeting with a guest speaker Nancy, from the TCO fly shop at The Hungry Trout on the West Branch of the Ausable River in New York. She gave a nice presentation about fishing the entire region. One of the topics she mentioned was the invase Rock Snot that now has hit the Ausable. The local fishing resorts , fly shops etc... put their heads together to try and figure a way to at least belay the invasive growth. With all the suggested cleaning methods, Bleach, Detergent, Salt etc.... And the 48 hours reccomended to let your gear dry off etc... They at least wanted to come up with a short term remediation until we all start carrying around two sets of waders and boots and the Manufacturers of waders stop making Felt Boots. What they are doing is putting up "Cleaning Stations" at all the shops and resorts. They will have Tubs with Salt / Brine solutions available to clean boots and waders. It will not solve the problem but it will help. I was wondering if anyone knows if the the shops in the Beaverkill - Delaware area have thought about getting together to promote a similar program? I think its a great idea. ( a pain in the ass, but you got to do what you gotta do ) Ralph |
