I'm a dope but...

This past Saturday, I got to the river and met up with Wylie. Wylie was going to run a shuttle for me so I could float the Mainstem. Wylie sat back and puffed a cigar while I started filling the pontoons and getting the boat together. I've pretty much got this down to a science. 10 minutes MAX to put this thing together. I purchased one of those electric pumps which inflates the pontoons in no time.

While inflating one of the pontoons, I noticed a small tear in one. I have the worse luck. Then I started putting the pieces together and realized I left my other bag home... You know... the bag with the straps to hold the ship together.

I put the ship back in the trunk. I wasn't too frustrated though, I had good company. We drove down to Stockport but couldn't park there. There had to be 15 cars lined up. From here, we headed over to the WB and remained there for the rest of the day.

There were only a small handfull of people where we went, so finding a spot to fish wasn't an issue. Wylie immediately found rising fish and parked himself on those fish. I walked upstream a bit and fished a riffle but nothing was happening. Then the wind came and pretty much guaranteed to shut things off for a while. Fortunately, the wind lasted only 20 minutes or so and pretty much died down.

I walked back downstream and met up with Wylie who was sitting on the bank watching the pool. Every so often we would see a fish rise but nothing steady.

After watching the pool for a while, it seamed as if someone threw a switch on because the pool lit up like wildfire. I moved into the pool and Wylie fished just upstream from me. I was using a little CDC Caddis with a maroon body (Size 16) and I believe Wylie was using a Hendrickson emerger. Between the two of us and our flies, we probably caught every fish in the pool.

Overall, it was a great day. The rain was minimal, the wind blew heavy when it did, but cooperated for the most part of the day. It was overcast and there were tons of bugs on the water. This was a perfect day for fishing!
