Fished the WB Monday through Wednesday. My kind of fishing ie, lots of bugs, fish rising, but not taking duns, and catching fish over 20 inches. I had one brown at 21 inches actually jump twice, which is something that I had never seen before. Monday I made the mistake of going to Stockport, thinking that it would be at a good wading level (it was) and giving me a chance to catch a few Mainstem rainbows. After three hours of seeing about three bugs, I bailed and went to Deposit, arriving around 5PM with many bugs still hatching.
Wednesday I tried some new water, and again found rising fish, but they were in the 12-14 inch class.
I conclude: 1. The flood had no impact on early season hatches. 2. There are still really big browns in the WB...3. Second year fish are in abundance.
And a side note...The WB Angler has shown tremendous faith in rebuilding their facilities....the new cabins are beautiful, and highly recommended.
