Caddis Pupae does the trick. Finally had success fishing a caddis pupae tied DRC style yesterday evening. Been fishing the West Canada Creek once/week & its been slow lately. Yesterday, I saw a few trout splash the surface.. but, no insect activity to speak of. Tried various nymphs & attractors without success. Then, tied on a CP that I tied up. Dead drifted it over the rises to no avail, .. was beginning to wonder what was going on ... then decided to move up above & swing it down to them. 1st pass, right at the end a small brown hammers it. Two casts later, another small brown, and a couple casts after that a vicious strike snapped my tippet. Of course, that was the only one I had, and nothing else worked. I cant believe how easy that pattern is to tie and how effective it is. |
