Carp on the fly

Any of you fine gentlemen out there ever target Carp with flies. I had the opportunity and only by accident to hook and land a nice Carp with my flyrod. The fight was incredible and this fish had me running all over until I was able to subdue him in a deep pool. Since then I have seen them but have not been able to get them to take my offerings. Can anyone give me some word of wisdom ? I've tried some of the things that I've read in books but I haven't had much luck.
