| Expecting early hatches this year Hi, I would think that there should be early hatching this year. Based on warm water temperatures for most of the winter so far. This is especially true on the tailwaters of the Delaware. The new spill mitigation program has been releasing lots of releatively warm water for the last couple of months. I have seen midges in the air nearly everyday!!! Even a fish rising now and then. I would expect hendricksons in mid April this year, so be ready!! I have always wanted to do a study of "aquatic growing degree days" much like entomologists predict terrestrial hatches based on winter air temperatures. For another lifetime!!! Any thoughts? |
