This past Saturday, I took home a few mayfly nymphs and 1 caddis larva. I like to take pics of them then post them on the site after I ID them. So now I've got this idea in my head, "How long can I keep them alive?"
Sunday I went out and purchased a small fish tank with a bag of rocks, some water plants, a thermometer, and a filter. I filled the tank with water from the faucet and ran the filter in it for a few hours. Yeah yeah I know, they'll never survive with the Chlorinated poluted water from my faucet. Just so happens that on Monday, one of the mayfly nymphs died. I figured they wouldn't last long anyway. The caddis larva was still moving around in his casing. He's pretty tough.

. I lost track of the other nymph until now. I saw him crawling on one of the sticks I put in there. So now I have two bugs in my tank since Sunday afternoon and they both seem to be doing well.
Why am I doing this? Well, I hope to be able to see them grow and turn into adults, but I can't see them lasting too much longer but hey, you never know. If they do make it, you can expect some good pics of my home grown mayfly and caddisfly.
