| Mayflies The book Mayflies by Malcolm Knopp and Robert Cormier is a great addition and compliment to Hatches 11 by Al Caucci. Compared to hatches this book I think goes deeper into the numerous stages of emergence and how important it can be at times to the angler. The numerous stages are explained as well as the techniques that should be employed. They get away from the typical 4 stages which has always been nymph, emerger, dun, and spinner. After reading the book some of you may realize that it can be much more than just the basic 4. As some of you know, especially you Delaware "guys" the fish eat whats most vunerable and numerous at the time. It may be the nymphs drifting along the bottom? the nymphs ascending to the surface in a particular manner?Or maybe its the fish being keyed in on the emerger below the film? in the film? or coming through the film?cripples?or even various stages of the spinner fall? Anyway I thought someone out there may be interested in a great addtion to your library. |
