Mike and I "braved" the cold and we rewarded with some excellent fishing on Saturday. We fished a limestone stream and thanks to the slightly warmer water temperatures the trout were more than cooperative. We were fishing with the usual eggs and micro nymphs, until Mike stomach pumped a fiish. We foung some huge sow bugs, large 3" worms, caddis larvae, and midges. We quickly tied on some size 12-14 tan sow bugs and it was game over. I landed 5 wild browns over 20 inches in one afternoon. It was easily one of my best days ever for wild brown trout in the Northeast. We fished indicator rigs for the most part. I switched over to a long leader Euro setup and caught nothing for about 20 minutes... then I "wised up" and switched back! Stomach sample... 23 incher.... It was so good yesterday that I actually didn't even bother fishing today!
