I had only fished a few spots in NJ this year, and decided to head to PA and hit McMichaels Creek for a change. I began exploring it last summer and had fished it exclusively in the morning and always seemed to catch at least a few fish.
I have been to the the SBR, a couple of WTS, but mostly the BFB where I had non-stop action for over four hours last Sunday. The last weekend in May, a flyfisherman's ideal time, and I figured that McMichaels should be boiling with trout. I went there this afternoon and fished untl 8:15, and although there were a few fishing rising sporadically, there was very little insect activity, and the fishing did not develop like I would have expected on my regular waters in Jersey. Disappointing, not that I got skunked and could not interest the few feeding fish, but I was expecting more from the Creek.
Anyone familiar with McMichaeals and its hatches? Was this an anomoly? By 6:30pm I wished I had headed 206 North instead of 80 West.
