Little Lehigh report 9/4/07...

All,
Hit the Little Lehigh River yesterday afternoon and had some great activity again. I know Tricos are hitting in morning but the evening was surprisingly hot as well. I had a nice Rainbow on a size 18 nypmh (not sure name as new pattern from WBA in NY). The nymph has copper based (like CJ) tied on small scud style hook with tiny rubber pieces wrapped around herl at the top. Had a few other bites on this so fish in PA seemed to like it too.
Around 7:00pm I started seeing a number of mayflies hatching and the fish were rising like crazy all over the area I was in. I grabbed one of the mayflies and it was about size 18 orange body (not sure if sulphur) mayfly. I put on a similar mayfly pattern and immediately hooked up with two bows.
I saw a nice rise (bigger for LL) across stream and got a decent drift and landed a pretty brown (12-15" but fat). That was my first brown on the LL and he put up a real good fight. I figured that was a good end to the night and it was too dark to see much else not to mention the feeding died way down by around 7:45pm. A quick hatch but well worth it!
