    Broadhead Creek

I'm new to this forum, and was just wondering if anyone might have anything to say about how the fishing has been at Broadhead Creek.

    Re: Broadhead Creek

The stream hasnt been the same the past few years since the flood and everything. All the channels have been changed and the stream gets shallower and is lacking more and more in structur everytime i see it. The hatches get going in the summer ok if the flows are still decent but I would wait for the sulphers to take a trip as it is the best hatch on that stream. There are some nice fish to be had upstream in analomic(sp?) and the gorge down below is nice looking if you dont mind a walk and the tempeatures are ok. If your going to Pa try the Lehigh river its got more water in it and more good sized fish to be had. Just my thoughts

    Re: Broadhead Creek

The lowest 6 miles of the Brodhead is all public from Analomink to the Delaware. Except for the top 1/2 mile and the gorge, the whole section was channelized big time after Hurricane Dianne. Above Analomink it is all private - and well patrolled.

Channelized does not sound good. Leisenring and Hidy would not be happy eh? How's fishing in the channelized section?

    Re: Broadhead Creek

The best waters are private and it can be a great frustration riding along this area and rarely seeing a person fishing it. It is a well-known creek and much written about, but the glory days of the upper public waters are long gone since they are now mostly private. Organizations like Trout Unlimited are doing their part to improve the lower open water and they deserve our support.

If you are still interested in this area, there are plenty of excellent but less publicized trout streams within a 20 mile radius.

    Re: Broadhead Creek

Brodhead Trout Unlimited has been moving rocks into the Brodhead for years and it is helping. Right at the top of the public water it is more natural and most of the stream actually fishes OK - it just isn't the banner stream it was. The good thing about all the club water upstream is that the creek isn't as developed as much of the Poconos is becoming. Therefore, the water quality is pretty good. The Gorge at the lower end also has it's fans and it is a unique stretch of water, but it is tough to walk into and warms early. It is also impacted by the Stroudsburg and E Stroudsburg sewer plants.

    Re: Broadhead Creek

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum but have been viewing for awhile. Ok the Brodhead is the water I fish the most and to answersome of the questions, Yes it's not the same after all the flooding in recent years but it's still a good stream. The easiest public access can be had along Rt 191 with plenty of parking (the township maintains several parks here), I like ffice:smarttags" />lace w:st="on">Brodhead Creek Parklace> the most. The flow has been ok even with the lack of rain this year. The channels are coming back naturally (early 2006 I could walk across my favorite stretch, (a first) but now I can't ). All in all if your in the Poconos take the time and fish this stream. fficeffice" />>>
