I did some work up there and I always look for places to fish when I'm living in hotels. There is a very nie stream about 15 miles outside of town. Google fly fishing in Cooperstown and see what pops up.

That's about as helpful as suggesting one wipe their ass after taking a shit. How about some actual information regarding this stream 15 miles outside of town.

Eat a dick idiot. If I can google up places to fish on a whim when I'm driving out of town to work I'm sure someone else can do the same. Why didn't you look up some places and post em rather then waste time posting negative comments to me? Jerkoff

Here ya go dick wad. Took less time to google it up then it did to read your stupid ass remarks.

Just North of Cooperstown on route 28 there is a small stream. I believe its Fly Creek, or possibly Oak Creek... its been a few years....... but it used to be a pretty good stream for borwns. If you don't mind some driving, head north on Route 28 to Mohawk NY, turn left onto Route 5S and head for Ilion, NY, about two miles. Turn left onto Route 51 and head south and you will find Steele Creek. Natural spawning rainbows... a tricky stream and stealth is required, but a productive stream none the less. Or, follow route 28 north out of Coopertown, and follow it through the village of Herkimer, and you will soon be alongside on of NYS' premier Trout streams.. the West Canada Creek,,,, the next 28 miles is all good water. Caddis, parachute adams, and Prince nymphs do the trick.

This question has been asked(and answered) a few times before, RIGHT HERE on N.E.F.F. Instead of Google, try searching THIS SITE for let's say "Cooperstown" and see what pops up. The "Search" box is on the right up near the top of the page...

    Re: Fly fishing Cooperstown area

Having spent the last 30+ summers of my life near cooperstown, I'm personally a little hesitant to recomend coldwater flyfishing right near cooperstown. It's been posted before, and Crackerjack did an excellent job of describbing soem of the "local" trout waters, but you should also look at the DEC Publich fishing rights maps in the area. Also, if you have access to a boat and would like to throw streamers deep or possibly try warm water species on the fly you could find any one of numerous lakes.... Herkimer also has the barge canal, what about throwing clousers for Smallmouth or Walleye. Post how you do and tight lines!
