Salmon River advice Hey,
This probably is a stupid question. I'm considering fishing the Salmon for the first time the day after tday. I will be in the Syracuse area with my son for thankgiving and thought we could head up for the day. I'd like to fly fish for steelheads, but have no experience at this. I'm mainly a fly tyer who fishes once in a while. My son is very inexperience fly fisher, but increadibly lucky. I'm considering checking out the fly fishing zone that should have opened by that time. My concerns are crowds, water levels, and just not knowing what I'm doing. I'm considering hiring a guide. I like Loren Williams website(great fly tying tutorials). Has anyone here had any experience with him. One prob is that it appears that he only has the sat after tday open(this would mean a ton of extra driving for me). I'm also considering fishing the no kill section of the Battenkill(very familiar with this) or the Ausable for browns. Any advice much apprieciated. Unfortunately my son teaches high school in NYC and I don't get to go out with him very often. Despite his lack of experience and skill he always catchs many more fish than I do. Thanks again.
