Sept. conditions upstate?

Heading upstate the weekend after Labor Day to do some hiking and fishing. I'm planning on one day of hiking(a quick run up Algonquin and back) and two and a half days of fishing. How are the rivers generally flowing at this time of year? Would the temperatures be acceptable for trout fishing on most of the major rivers? If trout isn't in the picture, I'll do some more hiking and target some warm water species.
