Remains of Catskills Flood Victim Found Along River Bank | HANCOCK, N.Y. (AP) -- The remains of one of the victims of the June flooding in the Catskills have been found along a river.
State police say a seasonal resident found the remains of 74-year-old Barbara Cooper of Livingston Manor on Saturday afternoon on the banks of the Beaverkill River in the Delaware County town of Hancock.
She disappeared after flash flooding hit the neighboring town of Colchester on June 20th, sweeping away homes, vehicles and tons of debris down a valley.
Her overturned sport utility vehicle was found shortly after the flooding, which also killed an elderly couple whose house was swept away.
Scuba divers found the bodies of Fred and Marjorie Shutts after the flooding.
A fourth person is still missing and presumed dead. |
