Best fishing rod for Salmon River?

Hello. I'm planning to fish in the Salmon River this fall. I'm planning to use the Orvis Frequent Flyer (9 feet, 9 weight) and Battenkill Bar Stock reel. Can anyone tell me if this combination will be strong enough? Also, I'm thinking of using a double-handed rod but I wish a single-hand rod will be enough (I don't know how to use a double-handed rod).

Or, if you have a rod in mind that you recommend me, please let me know.
