First Time Shad on the Deleware

Fished for Shad today for the first time ever!
I got two Roe on a red/gold "Tommy's Torpedo" on an 8wt sink-tip at Ten-Mile. It took me a while to figure out which bumps were Shad and which were rocks. And now I'm the one who is 'hooked'.

Reminds me a lot of steelhead. I was not prepared how strong these fish were. These two were at least 4 to 5 lbs ea. if not more. I will try to hit this during the 'peak' next year. Many Thanks to all of you who posted reports while I silently took mental notes to prepare myself. Good fishing to you....
