Fishing the Saranac River

Hi,

I will be visiting the Saranac river for the first time this saturday, my first step to fish in NY. I'm from Montréal, Quebec. I would like to know if possible what are the actuel condition of the river? Did we made a good choice or there is other better river that we should try around that area?
