    Frogs Fanny

I think I discovered something with Frogs Fanny. I use this stuff like crazy. It's in my vest, in my jacket, pretty much everywhere. I think there might be an issue with it though.

When I get off the river, I pack everything up and normally grab a slice or two of pizza. Then I get in my car and drive home. Without fail, I have to stop to take short naps. Normally I don't get home until the following morning. One of the problems I often encounter after my first nap is burning eyes. This weekend, after applying frogs fanny, some of it headed up to my face and shortly after I received a minor burning sensation. This stuff also gets on your fingers, then of course we wipe our eyes with it. Frogs fanny as we all know is try dry our flies off, and it works rather well. I'm now thinking that this stuff is drying my eyes out causing them to burn. Now I'm going to have to experiment with this a bit but I'm pretty sure this is probably the main reason it takes me so damned long to drive home at night.

    Opinions?

    Re: Frogs Fanny

The issue I have is that it makes my fingers clammy and line doesn't slide too well through them. My line handling is pretty clumsy as it is.

Can't attest to the dry eyes as mine are already dry from contacts when I fish, so I wouldn't know the difference. I suggest artificial tears eyedrops. That should help. And maybe scrub your hands with a nail brush before driving home.

There has to be an MSDS for the stuff. I'm getting ready to go to work and no time to google it. Maybe someone will find it before I get to work.

    Re: Frogs Fanny

It definitely does dry out human skin/eyes. My dad spilled his inside a vest pocket the other day and when he cleaned it out his hands were dry as a bone. Luckily it's not non-toxic. After I use it I rinse my hands in river waters and wipe them on something "frictionful" I'm not going to stop using it because of this minor inconvenience, because the stuff works great!

The functionality of it doesn't stop at drying off flies, eyes or skin. AK put it on his sense of humor before joining this board and he's been a hit ever since.

I couldn't find anything on FF, (the actual ingredients appear to be a mystery), but assuming the desiccant is mostly silica gel...

I've never experienced this problem. I just brush it on the fly with the brush applicator. The only thing my fingers touch is the handle of the applicator.

    Re: Frogs Fanny

I have used allot of Frogs Fanny in the past. A friend turned me onto a product used to dry arrow fletching. It seems to be the same material as Frogs Fanny. It comes in a larger container, works as well and is less expensive! I normally refill my empty Frogs Fanny bottle with this product.
