Looking for recommendation on books on rod building

Can any one suggest any good books on rod building? Something that would cover fly rods and spinning rods possibly. Can any one recommend any good cheap blanks for fly rods, for starters? I am thinking 6-7wt, 9', fast action, maybe one of the kits from cabelas?
