OK folks -time is getting short & I want to build a 5wt to back up my 6wt. I'm a big fan of St. Croix rods - I've built three (two 3wts & a 2wt) so far using the Legend Ultra (SCIV) blanks, and my 6wt is also an Ultra. The 6 wt was bought, not built.

I'm thinking about getting a Legend Elite (SCV) blank to build on, specifically a 4 or 5 piece - 9'.

First question - Anyone fish or have demo cast a Legend Elite, and how do/did you like it?

Next question - Anyone have a particular brand of rod they want to recommend that may be comparable to this blank? I'm open to suggestion.

Seeing as the 5 pc blank is about $250, I think I'll set that as my limit on $ for the blank.

I thought of just buying one of the Temple Fork rods for a backup; they seem decent, and at about $140 I can't build one for that.

BUT I have this overpowering urge to build another rod, maybe with a Curly Koa seat, and so there we are....
