Short Ct. River Float 7/25

Headed to the Harpoon Brewery tonight for the BBQ championship. Thought I might run upriver a bit and put the canoe in below Sumner Falls and float back down towards Windsor. Anybody have any thoughts on access, flows, safety...? River seemed pretty mild last time I was there but I see the daily releases bouncing quite high right now. Thanks.
