    Trout fishing near Boston

Hi Folks, new to this forum. I will be moving to Massachusetts from the UK in the next few months. I have not decided on an exact location, but most likely it will be close to Boston. Any advice on popular rivers for trout fishing is greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards
    Eddie

I live in Rhode Island and I'd have to say your best bet would be to go West out the MassPike to the Farmington. Most of the folks in this forum are in the NJ area but you'll find a few true New Englanders. Southern RI also has the Wood River. As far as the Boston Metro area I'd stay away from those polluted holes.

From Boston you have the western part of the state with some very nice trout streams.

North you have New Hampshire and Maine with in a few hours drive.

Lot of places to go and fish.

I'd explore to the north. Maine, new Hampshire and perhaps Vermont.

Also I'd take a look at the Deerfield.

Simms is the Deerfield guru around here.

So search for hhis posts if you're interested.

    Re: Trout fishing near Boston

    Welcome,

Lots of quality trout fishing, and it's close.
The Swift, Quabbin Res property has many small streams, lots of brookies. The Millers, a fine trout river.
The Farmington a wonderful river, both in MA. and Connecticut.

Maine NH and VT also good choices.
Check out some of the archives on this site for some of the reports.

    Brk Trt.

    Re: Trout fishing near Boston

    PM ME...

Ive fished literally every named stream in Massachusetts, from the trickle of a high mountain stream, to the turbulent canal in wareham.

I can point you in any direction you want. IN fact, ill take you out on a tour of some stream close to RI...Youll never believe your fishing in the northeast...

    I live in Worcester.

Did I mention by biggest trout so far this season in mass has been 34''? Native brown on the Harriman section of the deerfield...shhhhhhhhhhh Notice my reports of this watershed, or lack there-of?
