Not Ranked : 0 Quinnie and Trout Brook 5/7 Started at Trout Brook around 1 and fished through all my usual spots without even spooking a fish. All the rain had the brook really high and off color so I moved quickly up to the little stocked pond at the Trout Brook recreation area...if you've been there you'll know what I'm talking about. I figured if the streams were high I might be able to get some action on the pond. Some fish were rising when I got there and second cast produced a little stocked brown on a BHPT dropped off a #16 parachute adams. Minutes later I was sprinting from the pond as a 2.5' water snake snuck right up on me, as an absolute snake hater I wasn't too happy...luckily no one was around to witness my reaction and subsequent scream!! I got a nice little rainbow and missed another before leaving (sorry no pics but when I went to snap one I realized my memory card was full...oops).
After the height of trout brook I wasn't too optomistic about the Quinnie but I headed down River Road and stopped at the #5 parking area and rigged up the 5 wt. The river was at least as high as it was when I fished it in early April, it was pumping. I fished for about thirty minutes but wasn't too into it with the high water so headed back to the North Shore.
