| Autumn Brookies Today was the day to fish a small wild trout stream. The sun was out in force and the leaves on the turn. The stream was beautiful, clear and cold, with temps at 56. I started fishing dries and about every third drift I snagged a leaf. But it didn't take long before the wild guys noticed the offerings, within an hour I had several trout to hand, with many SDR's. A small piece of water, a large piece of beauty. ![]() ![]() ![]() A female, perhaps looking for the right size gravel ![]() And a male in full spawning dress, looking to carry on. Notice the teeth. ![]() ![]() I continued to fish upstream for another hour or so then started working my way back to the car, I fished that pool where the male was hooked and drifted a fly there, I brought him to the surface but missed. It was a grand Autumn day with small stream wild brookies. |
