Late season trout fishing trip suggestions?

Looking to take a camping trip sometime within the next month or so and I'm looking for suggestions. The trip will consist of driving to my destination at 4PM on a Thursday and arriving in time to setup a tent without stumbling around in total darkness, so I figure I'm limited to about 5 hours from Trenton, NJ. Its that, or I'll drive further and sleep in the car as long as I can fish within an hour of getting up in the morning, so figure 8 hours or 400 miles the maximum limit to distance. I'd prefer free camping, i.e. a state park or wilderness area to keep costs down, and I don't mind hiking, I kinda prefer a bit of a hike to make things interesting. I'll be able to stay until Sunday, so I want to get two solid days of fishing in. I'd love to have a chance at some big trout, but I prefer quantity over quality. I'll be wade fishing, and I don't have the money for a float trip, so wherever I go has to be very wadeable.

This will probably be my last big trip until next spring, so I want to make it a good one. I'll most likely be going alone, unless I somehow sucker a friend to come along with me, so I don't want to do anything too extreme. I also want to keep costs to a minimum; I'm budgeting for two tanks of gas (900 miles of driving, $90) and a fishing license for the duration of the trip (up to $50). I'm licensed in NJ and NY, but I'd prefer not to fish in NY since I spent the last four years upstate. I'm open to just about anywhere thats within my range, so suggest away
