We've never got any giants, but horsing them to keep them out of the grass can be a challenge on light tackle. We also hooked some nice flounder too. Also fun on a fly pole when the conditions were right.
The ocean side has been very productice for Spanish, Kings and Mahi and the occasional shark on flies and conventional gear.
Get hooked on fishing, which it sounds like you already are, then get hooked on fly fishing. |
Thanks for the tip, Joe. I do fly fish, but I never tried it in NC. Most of the fishing I do isn't conducive to fly fishing.
And I've spent a good deal of time fishing the Intercostal Waterway, specifically the Roanoke Sound. I'm happy when I get a redfish or trout but I mostly end up with croaker and pinfish.
If you fish around the Oregon Inlet, let me know. I'll PM you the location of a spot that's beautiful and always productive for me. And, for the first time this year, there was a fly fishermen there.
