Whats the deal with large trout being caught during broad daylight? I have seen pics of trout 22+ inches being caught in the middle of a clear summer day day. I would consider a 22 inch fish to be a good mature fish. I have even seen pictures of fish 24 inches up to 27 inches being taken on bright day. All these big fish begain to make me wonder if it is an urban legend that trout become nocturnal once they have reached a certain size? If these fish are nocturnal are they getting caught in the middle of a midnight snack so to speak. Or is it a possibility that certain species such as the brown trout more prone to develop a nocturnal feeding cycles with maturity? I have read an interesting theory on this but wanted to see what others might thing.
So I really don’t know why more people don’t catch larger fish. Is it because they are sleeping so to speak? Or is it a matter of mind over matter and they just need to fish their flies with more confidence?
I will be looking forward to what JeffK might have to say on this

along with everyone else.
