How did you get hooked?

Do you remember the first trout you caught... if so were you hooked from the start? I happened to come across the photo below of the first trout I ever caught. Although this happened quite some time ago however I feel I will never forge this moment as it was very anti climatic.

I found myself in the land of 10,00 lakes not the place one might expect to catch their first trout. I had fished very few times at this point in my life and had been relatively unsuccessful at catching anything. I was with my grandfather at the time who was less then an accomplished angler. I do not believe he had ever caught a trout in his life the closest he ever came was that day with me. I know for a fact that he never owned waders or fished a stream. Part of his reluctance to fish streams could be that he did not know how to swim. Having growing up on a farm their was little time to relax let alone fish.

So the short of the story is my Grandfather Brother and I decided to troll leeches around the lake. Half way through the trip I thought I had something on and got very excited. After a brief battle I reeled my line in only to find it connected to some mono. After striping in the mono I was very excited to find a trout at the end of line I became tangled in. I considered that a successful fishing trip back in those day. One dead unidentifiable fish(trout) and one immense Northern Pike that fought harder then my dead trout to say the least my brother caught the pike. It managed to maintain his interest in fishing for roughly a year till I lodged a treble hook in his thumb after that day my brother was a little turned off to fishing to say the least.
