$60 million targeted to watershed improvement projects

Washington – The override of the President’s veto of the Water Resources Development Act last week meant $60 million will flow for studies of water resource projects in the region.

A total of $30 million will be used to study and implement improvements to the Susquehanna and Upper Delaware River Watershed and another $30 million to study and implement improvements to the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake River Watershed in Westchester County.

The bill also authorizes $12 million for the Army Corps of Engineers to work with local authorities on dam safety measures for 15 dams across the nation including Congers Lake Dam, Lake Lucille Dam, and Pine Grove Lakes Dam in Rockland County.
