seems like a nice program to recognize large and the largest fish species caught each year... my only problem is with the following:
Quote:
|
All applications must be signed by the person who weighed the fish and the name of the tackle shop, marina, boat or business should be identified.
|
then, at the bottom of the brochure, it states:
Quote:
|
I hereby certify this fish was caught in New Jersey waters in accordance with state laws and regulations, and that the entry was weighed on certified scales

Lets say I'm fishing the KLG and catch a 3lb Brook Trout. (please don't berate me, this is a hypothetical situation

) Where in the world am I going to find a 'certified scale' anywhere nearby??? If I plan on releasing the darn thing, I'm not about to strap it in the kiddie seat and say "hold on! here we go!"
Anybody know the locations of the "certified scales" in Hunterdon County?
if you read here
http://espn.go.com/outdoors/fishing/...triper_nj.html
the guy catches a record striper by phillipsburg and takes it all the way to the pequest hatchery for weighing... I guess catch and release doesnt apply to records? I've read other stories where they tried to treat the fish as nice as possible but it still dies from the stress... So if you have a LARGE fish that is considered large enough for skillful angler or state/world record, then you either release it with self satisfaction and no recognition, or it perishes with recognition... Thoughts?
(and where are there scales in NJ?)
