 Canoe Brook needs Help!
The Canoe Brook in Essex County that runs from a spring in West Orange NJ through Essex Fells, Roseland, Livingston and eventually Chatham (Morris County) into the Passaic. There is currently a development about to land on top of the spring. A good friend of mine is trying to stop this development (it’s in his backyard). He is trying to have the brook reclassified by DEP as a C1 stream. The current fisheries plans classify it as non-trout water. However I remember hearing there is a native/wild brookie population in this brook. Does anyone have any experiences that would back this up, and would you be willing to swear on a stack of bibles that you know these trout are there. He is down to 35 days left to stop this thing, and it’s to warm out to electro fish it. Any help greatly appreciated.
