IMHO, Tight Lines Fly Fishing on Route 46 in Pine Brook and Ramsey Outdoors on Route 17 in Paramus have the biggest and best selection of fly tying materials in the state. I realize it's probably a haul for southern Jerseyites, but it's better to actually see what you're buying and have a decent selection, rather than rely on a catalog description. Case in point: I have tons of stuff bought from catalogs that isn't what I imagined and I probably will never use. In the case of hair and feathers, it is
extremely important yhat you select what's best for your needs.
It might be worthwhile to combine a materials purchasing trip with a business, shopping or fishing trip. In the latter case Shannons in Califon would be another good place to try if you fish the
KLG. I haven't been in there for a number of years, but the late Les Shannon had an excellent selection of materials; even horse hair! The new owners are very savvy fly fishermen and I believe they have carried on that tradition.
