Not Ranked : 0 First Toms Trout! Howdy guys. Fished the Toms River today. After a number of trips with nothing to show - this time around I landed two browns. And one was probably the biggest brown I've ever caught. It was longer than the opening of my net - I was super psyched - some of you guys on the site clued me in on techniques for the Toms and it paid off.
Thanks a lot for the help!
I was fishing a black bead head bugger with a sink tip. My leader was short and 4x. I also had two split shot on. I worked my way downstream and let it drift into deep holes and stripped it back.
The second fish was literally under a tree that had halfway fallen in the river, but was still alive and growing. There was no way you could have put the fly where this fish was without working downstream - that brown enhaled the bugger - I had to pop it out with forceps.
Thanks again crew! I'm super stoked! |
